How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

First thing’s first: cold brew coffee is not iced coffee. It’s brewed with cold water instead of hot water and must be steeped overnight. Making cold brew coffee requires a bit of patience, but we promise it’s worth it for a smoother, sweeter coffee

Follow these simple steps for a batch you’ll want to brew again and again.

What You'll Need

2 pitchers
Measuring cup
1 cup Folgers® coffee grounds
5 cups distilled or filtered water
Large spoon
Strainer
Cheesecloth or coffee filter

Step 1

Measure & Mix

Add 1 cup of Folgers ground coffee to a pitcher and stir in 5 cups of water.

Step 2

Chill & Stir

Refrigerate the mixture for at least 12 hours. Then remove it from the fridge and stir.

Step 3

Remove Grounds

Line a strainer with cheesecloth. (If you don’t have a cheesecloth, a coffee filter will work just fine.) Pour the coffee mixture through the cheesecloth and strainer into a separate pitcher.

Step 4

Dilute It

Cold brew coffee is more concentrated than other coffee. For the recommended cold brew ratio, stir in another 1½ cups of water. Serve and enjoy.
